Projectathons play a key role in advancing interoperability and driving innovation across Canada’s digital health ecosystem. From February 24–26, 2026, we will host the Pan-Canadian Projectathon, a three-day virtual event where participants from across the country will come together to test, validate, and accelerate the adoption of interoperable digital health solutions. Hello, Ontario Health will be hosting an Open Review webinar on November 27, 2025, @ 12:00-1:00pm (EST) to provide details on the Ontario Subscription HL7® FHIR® Interoperability Guide v1.0.0-ballot, explain the process of providing coordinated comments during the Open Review period, and answer questions. The Subscription Implementation Guide (IG) defines how Ontario Health can use FHIR Subscriptions to enable real-time notifications when healthcare data changes occur. It establishes the business context, outlines priority use cases, and specifies the FHIR R5 backport profiles, operations, terminologies, identifiers, examples, and conformance requirements needed to implement subscriptions consistently across systems. By adopting this IG, organizations will: • Improve Operational Efficiency: Deliver more precise and timely event notifications using advanced Pub/Sub capabilities. • Simplify Subscription Management: Standardize subscription handling with clearly defined topics, enhanced filtering, and status tracking. • Ensure Future Readiness: Lay the foundation for a smooth transition to FHIR R5 by incorporating forward-compatible features today.
