What’s new in this release?
- Existing LOINC terms: added 77 LOINC terms to address jurisdictions' requests and support laboratory information systems (LIS) implementation needs and interoperability.
- pan-Canadian nomenclature edits: applied to 415 LOINC terms to retain the specificity and clarity of previously aligned terms. These updates respond to generalizations introduced through the LOINC and SNOMED Collaborations on the LOINC ontology.
- LOINC 2.81 updates: Modifications made to 105 LOINC terms updated in the latest international release. This includes restoring specificity to 11 Hematology codes for ‘Erythrocytes’, ensuring specificity in Component names is retained. These changes, recommended by Canada and other LOINC Community members, support current implementations, clinical interpretations, reporting workflows, system usability, patient safety, and accurate data use.
- Canadian French Translation: expanded to include newly added terms and updates to revised terms.
- Management Information System (MIS) Standards updates provided by the Canadian Institute for Health Information to identify the LOINC and pCLOCD terms that align with the latest reporting requirements
