Dear members of the Health Analytics Community,
We will be hosting a session on April 30, 2026 | 2:00–3:00 PM EST on a topic many of us encounter — but don’t always articulate clearly: HL7 FHIR is not enough.
Session: "pan-Canadian Health Data Content Framework (pCHDCF) Semantic Common Data Model - Why, what and how?"
Why this matters: FHIR solved a major part of the problem — how data moves. But it does not solve what the data actually means.
Across systems, concepts like encounter, episode of care, or even provider are still interpreted differently. The result?
➡️ Data that flows… but doesn’t align
➡️ Analytics that scale… but don’t agree
➡️ AI that accelerates… but on inconsistent foundations
That’s exactly why the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is advancing the pan-Canadian Health Data Content Framework (pCHDCF) — including a Semantic Common Data Model to bring consistency to how healthcare data is understood across Canada.
This session will focus on the shift from:
➡️ exchange → understanding
➡️ integration → insight
