PrescribeIT™ is Canada's national electronic prescribing service, EMR-integrated and now live in 3 provinces.

PrescribeIT™’s Opioid Working Group is comprised of patient and family advisors, physicians, pharmacists, nurses, regulators, policy leaders and subject matter experts from across the country.

The Working Group has initiated a consultation to gather input from stakeholders on the opportunity for PrescribeIT™ to support evidence-based electronic prescribing of opioids at the point of care (i.e. from prescribers' EMRs).

The Working Group identified that in future development, PrescribeIT™ could provide evidence-based information to physicians (or other authorized prescribers) as they write opioid prescriptions, within their clinical systems.

To advance this work, the Opioid Working Group reviewed clinical guidelines and recommendations to support opioid prescribing practices. Next, the Working Group identified several areas where PrescribeIT™ could present information at the point-of-prescribing to support evidence-based electronic prescribing of opioids.

The result was a narrowed list of high priority opioid information and guidelines that could be presented to prescribers at the time of prescribing.

This consultation is seeking stakeholder views to better understand:

• The greatest opportunities for affecting change in opioid prescribing; and
• The potential usefulness of this information for prescribers

We hope you will consider providing your input through the online input tool available until July 8, 2019 at this link: www.prescribeit.ca/about-us/governance/open-consultations

The survey will provide you with an opportunity to provide more in-depth responses on a series of potential evidence-based information that could be displayed to prescribers through PrescribeIT™.

All responses are confidential, and will be provided to us by our research partner Nielsen in an anonymous format. It will take you approximately 15 minutes to complete. Thank you !
