LOINC has released LOINC Version 2.82, now available for download from LOINC.org and accessible via the LOINC Terminology Server and Infoway Terminology Server using HL7® FHIR®.

Highlights from LOINC 2.82:
Advancing global interoperability
• 1,456 LOINC concepts updated to enhance data exchange, support patient-centered care, and strengthen public health and research use cases.
LOINC Ontology updates (in collaboration with SNOMED International)
• Updates to coagulation tests: Components with method/technique information has been moved to the Method attribute.
• Updates to antibiotic susceptibility tests: Components with specific concentrations has been moved to the Method attribute.
1,077 new LOINC concepts added across key domains:
• Laboratory: Expanded content in molecular pathology, microbiology, allergy testing, toxicology, and clinical laboratory panels, supporting a broad range of diagnostic workflows.
• Clinical: New content to strengthen support for clinical assessment, diagnostic imaging, procedures, and health-related social needs, enabling interoperable representation of care across settings.
• Documents & Surveys: Additions that enhance structured clinical documentation, patient-reported data capture, and standardized assessments influencing health outcomes.
Technical enhancements to better serve the LOINC community
• Introduction of a Detailed Part Model on LOINC detail pages, enabling users to better understand relationships between individual LOINC terms and their composite Parts (LP codes), including sub-parts within Component, Time, and System. To view example: LOINC Code 20120-2
• Preparations underway for a more frequent release cadence, supported by technical infrastructure and process updates to enable smaller, more manageable, and increasingly automated releases.
Canadian French translations
• New and updated Canadian French translations of LOINC Parts are available within the LOINC v2.82 Linguistic Variants file package.

Looking Ahead: pCLOCD release
Infoway’s Canadian Standards Release Centre is actively preparing the next pCLOCD release, scheduled for publication on March 31, 2026.
This upcoming release will:
• Incorporate relevant updates from LOINC Version 2.82
• Address requests for change identified by Canadian stakeholders
• Continue to support pan-Canadian interoperability, laboratory and document-based clinical data exchange between systems.
