The September 2025 release of the pan-Canadian LOINC Observation Code Database (pCLOCD), version R06.23.00_2.81, is now available for implementation. This update, informed by LOINC release v2.81, reflects ongoing collaboration between Canadian implementers and the LOINC Community to enhance interoperability across health and lab systems.

How to access the release :
Highlights of this release:
  • 77 LOINC terms added to support jurisdictional requests and LIS needs.
  • 415 pan-Canadian nomenclature edits to retain specificity and clarity
  • LOINC 2.81 updates: Modifications made to 105 LOINC terms in the latest international release, including restoring clinical specificity in Component names for 11 Hematology codes (Erythrocytes). These Canada-driven changes support current implementations, clinical interpretation, reporting workflows, system usability, patient safety, and accurate data use.
  • MIS Standards updates from CIHI, aligning terms with the latest reporting requirements.
