I have no role in the assigning of new OIDs, but when we were setting up many of the professions over 10 years ago we were obtaining OIDs for the national profession bodies, typically the national association, and then issuing regional association and registrar OIDs from those OID bases. If that is still being followed then your OID requests would go to the national bodies in some or all cases rather than Infoway to issue potentially duplicate and competing OIDs.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your response, and historical insight into the OID registration for profession bodies.
This forum posting is following the current Infoway process for registration of OIDs with HL7.org . This request is to register OIDs already in use by eHealth Ontario and EHR integration partners. Some Ontario colleges have already been registered with HL7.org, so those are NOT in this list. This list is to address the remaining health profession colleges not yet registered with HL7.org -- and in doing so, improve interoperability by making these OIDs publicly listed/registered.

If implementers are aware of conflicting/competing OIDs for the license/registration numbers for this list of health profession colleges, this current Infoway process should help to identify and facilitate resolution of these duplicates.
