We are pleased to announce the addition of the Health Canada Antimicrobial Reserve List as a new policy in the CCDD Coded Attributes file. Concepts that fall under the new policy will be added to the Special Groupings file and identified with the new coded attribute. This change will take effect in the September 2025 release.
Please note there will be no structural changes to the existing files.

The Antimicrobial Reserve List
The reserve list of antimicrobial drugs is a reference for prescribers indicating antimicrobials that should be reserved for treating confirmed or suspected infections from multi-drug resistant organisms. This list is one of several initiatives to promote appropriate prescribing practices of critical antimicrobial drugs and is in line with the Pan-Canadian Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance.
